Raining cats and dogs...mostly dogs

What keeps you occupied on rainy days?
I don't mind spring showers especially during our fun but hectic soccer season. A welcome break in the routine. I've got the fireplace on, kids are fed, started a few charcoal sketches of dogs I'd like to do a series of, book two of a Veronica Roth series waiting to be cracked open and a request to catch up on a couple of Glee episodes.  I love a good rainy night :)

I had a chance to get out for another photo drive today in this wonderful weather. There's nothing like a full tank of gas and a couple of hours to kill to see what interesting sights I can find through the lens of my camera. A perfect afternoon :D

Another Sunny Day

I'm really enjoying the sun we've had recently.  It feels like summer and we've somehow skipped spring.
I had a chance to pop into Muk Luk Magpie's today to drop off a few of my canvases for display.  I'm so thankful they have agreed to consign some of my work.  It's a beautiful little front shop tastefully decorated with quite a variety of art and gifts items.  Pam really does a nice job organizing it all and I'm very pleased to be included.

I'm continuing to work on my flower series which I plan to offer in two sizes of canvas Giclee for each print (limited to 5 for each size)  Art cards and 8.5"x11" on quality photo paper are also available.

Cheers,
Cindy

Right Brain vs Left Brain

Are you more right brained or left brained? Personally I'm not sure which is more dominant for me. I am a Libra after all ;) …isn't it all about the balance?
I do think that this is one of the reasons why I'm enjoying photography and iPhone editing so much. It's a perfect mix for me that satisfies the techy/nerdie half and the daydreamy/creative side.
I did spend a little time this afternoon leaning slightly to the right for some doodling. Time to go do some math ;)

Erasers aren't just for mistakes ;)

I really fell in love with charcoal last year when I was taking a local drawing course here in Airdrie from Jane Romanishko.
I'm not sure what it is exactly that I like so much about it. I do really enjoy black and white and love drawing portraits but it's soooo much messier than using pencils :). I think one of the main reasons I love it is that your eraser is just as much your tool for drawing as the charcoal itself.

The left image is a quick 45min charcoal sketch I did tonight. I took the photo reference of my youngest a few months ago when we were goofing around with some excellent dollar store glasses I found :)

Thanks to my good friend Michele. Our chat this afternoon motivated me to get my sketch on ;)

Growing up in Central Alberta, the Prairies will always be my home.  I love to capture local landscape through photography and iPhone editing.  Having the flexibility of mobile editing has been an amazingly creative tool for me.  I love experimenting and learning and am excited to see what this next year will bring.
